Bitcoin Scam: Senior Falls Victim to Telephone Fraudsters
In a shocking case of cybercrime, a 79-year-old man from Stadtsteinach fell victim to a Bitcoin scam, according to a report by Frankenpost. The senior was contacted by telephone and persuaded to grant access to his computer via TeamViewer, under the pretext of converting his Bitcoin balance into euros.
After gaining access, the fraudster simulated a transfer of nearly 10,000 euros, prompting the retiree to transfer 990 euros to the supposed helper. Shortly after, the money vanished from the victim's account. Police have launched investigations and warn against such schemes.
